My name is Erica. I currently live in Brunswick, Ohio, just south of Cleveland. I was told about my love of Creative Writing in my first undergraduate English class at Ashland University by Joe Mackall, and I have been studying it and writing ever since. I finished graduate school with my MFA in Creative Writing from University of North Carolina Wilmington in May 2010 and I am on a painstaking journey to figure out the balance between my traditional desire to be a housewife, and my modern (not feminist) abilities and desires to be a working woman. I have a fantastic job at Foundation Software as a Writer and Public Relations Specialist in the Marketing Department. I am lucky to be using my degrees in writing and making my own way in this world.
My husband, Mike, is the best thing that has ever happened to me.
And then he knocked me up and gave me the BEST other thing that’s ever happened to me:
I have a saying that someday I hope to have tattooed on myself… “It is the fool who fails to return to the place of his last happiness.” I believe that, 100%. The question is, though, where is the last place you were truly happy? The answer to that is that I think it’s in the past. No one can ever be as happy as they were in the past because we look back on it with rose-colored glasses. We forget the bad and glorify the good. It’s how we survive as human beings.
I feel entitled to give you advice, and to be politically incorrect, and make you angry. I do it so that for a moment, you might see the world as I do.
