Big Plans This Weekend! Plus an Anniversary Recap

I probably won’t get to blog tomorrow…because I’m leaving work at noon…to go celebrate my 3-Year Anniversary with Mike!  I’m pretty darn excited about it.

For our first anniversary, I was still living in North Carolina and Mike was in Pennsylvania.  We met in the middle at Pipestem State Park in West Virginia and we had a blast.  We hiked around and stayed in a beautiful lodge, and we truly just enjoyed each other’s company.  We took a too long hike and ended up climbing a vertical hill after a bunch of turkeys to get back. That weekend, my chicken was shaped like a heart, too.  We watched the sun set and stood on our balcony drinking champagne, and Mike gave me the first (and only) ring he’s ever given me.

I had long, brown hair:

Mike showed me how to scurry climb:

Even the food was lovey:

And my ring:

Then for our second year anniversary, we stayed in downtown Cleveland. There are plenty of pictures from that glorious weekend!

For our three year anniversary, we are going to a resort in Maryland.  I know nothing about it–Mike is planning it solo!  So I’m very excited to see what this weekend will bring.  🙂  Maybe a new ring?  WINK WINK!

What a Weekend!

UPDATED:

We dance. Oh yes.

Friday, I (helped) buy my boyfriend a gun.

Saturday, my cousin Hilary married her now husband Josh and we had a heckuva time at the wedding.

And Sunday, it was 65 degrees!!!  I ended up running 5.5 miles and walking another 5.5 with my mom and brother’s girlfriend, Katie.  And Mike got to golf.

It was just so much fun.  Check back tonight for some wedding pictures!  Right now, I’m too busy. 😉

A Mapper’s Wedding Ring

About three times I week, I lose myself in internet fancy and start staring at big-stoned wedding rings.   I rarely look at men’s rings because frankly, they’re not so exciting.  But I found this one today:

For those of you who may not know me, my boyfriend is a mapper.  Not the Christopher Columbus, track the stars, wear stockings and a three-pointed hat kind of mapper, but rather a real-life one that actually makes maps of Pennsylvania and loves the land.

Which is why he needs to marry me ASAP so I can buy him this ring!  Whatdya say, Mike? 😉

I. Met. David. Tutera!

Oh. My. God.  Yes, that’s David Tutera.  WITH ME.

Mom and I got to meet him on Monday at about 10:30 a.m.  I gave him a hug.  We talked for about 10 minutes, during which I told him that I wanted him to be my “something blue” on my wedding day and handed him a bridal handkerchief with a blue bow on it.

David said, “Can I sign it?!”  OF COURSE YOU CAN!

So now, when I get married, even though I may not be able to get David Tutera to plan my wedding, I will have a little piece of his pizzazz and style with me as my something blue.  I am so excited!  I’ll post pictures of the handkerchief later, but for now…  DUN DUN DUN!

I just really want to thank Kort, Chris, Phyllis, Jeannie, Mary Kay, and anyone else who was involved with making this happen.  I’m so lucky to have gotten to meet him.  ***SQUEAL***

Valentine’s Day Round-Up

Okay, so it turns out I didn’t take as many pictures as I thought I did over Valentine’s Day, but I did have great hair…

Valentine’s Day started amazingly (slight sarcasm).  On the Turnpike, my car began alerting me that there was not enough air in my tire.  Turns out it was the same one that kept losing air earlier in the winter.  A very slow leak.  I aired it up and then continued to Mike, who had tuna steaks, shrimp, veggies, and WINE waiting for me–all by candlelight!  Helluva guy, right?

We spent all night listening to music and talking to each other.  The next morning, we took my car to Sears so they could look at the tire.  They proceeded to tell me that there was a nail in it at an odd angle and that it couldn’t be plugged.  And because Delilah is an all-wheel-drive vehicle, I would have to buy four brand new tires…totally $817.00.  WHA?!

I called my daddy and whined and he told me to find a tire place that could do a vulcanized patch.  So being that we were in Franklin, PA on a weekend, there were hardly ANY tire places open.  But we found one!  They agreed to do it (although it might take a little while to squeeze me in).  I told the greasy guy behind the counter that he was my hero, and he laughed.

So Mike and I went to Franklin On Ice and saw all the ice sculptures.  Cute right?

Reminded me of Arctic Blast at Ashland University.

It was frigidly cold so we hurried back, and they called for me to come pick up my car.  Know how much they charged me?  $18.00.  AND THOSE DAMN PEOPLE AT SEARS WANTED ME TO PAY $817.00!!!!!!!

Such bull.

After that we went bowling:

I look angry and disheveled but it’s okay.

Then we got dinner at Foxtales and watched a movie.  It was such a good night.  🙂

So there you have it!  My Valentine’s Day weekend!

Punch Brothers – Finding My Love for Music Again

I know I told you that I would show you pictures of my Valentine’s Day today (HAPPY VALENTINE’S DAY, by the way), but the truth is that I have been sick and sounding like a man, and last night, all I did was clear out my Hulu queue from the quiet solitude underneath my blankets.  Oh, and I ate four cups of green beans because hell, I couldn’t taste anything anyway (read: I LOVE GREEN BEANS).

Whoa.  Ramble.

That said.  I did not upload my pictures yet.  But you all responded awesomely to my post yesterday about Mike Blair and the Stonewalls, and I hope that some of you bought the album.  It’s so worth it.  And I’ll make Mike Blair handwrite you a thank you.  😉

Let me tell you a little about my Valentine’s Day weekend.  When I got to Mike’s on Friday, he had dinner ready and waiting…by candlelight.  🙂  What a man, right?  Tuna steaks, shrimp, and vegetables, I was in heaven.  So I drank wine and he drank some sort of man concoction.  After that, we were playing on his computer and talking about music.  After looking at some shows in Cleveland and showing each other what we had been listening to of late, we talked about “Melissa” by the Allman Brothers.

We love it LIVE.

When we were downtown in Wilmington back when we were dating, we stood outside of the Reel Cafe against the brick fence.  The canvas tent was covering the patio area and we were wrapped up in each other’s arms.  The band inside was playing “Melissa” and we were a hot mess.  Every time I hear Melissa, I think about how exciting it felt to feel his arm hair brushing up against mine for the first time and the way his red t-shirt looked in the yellow lights.  The humidity couldn’t even hang between us that night.

So on Friday when we started listening to that together, my whole music conundrum disappeared.  I felt music again.

———————————————-

Fast forward to today.  The new Punch Brothers was released today–Who’s Feeling Young Now–and my friend Tom who gave me the amazing vintage ad collection was kind enough to send it my way.

Ho. Lee. Seamonkeys!  It is INCREDIBLE!

I am so thankful that I have a boyfriend and friends who can cure music illness.  Please ya’ll, listen to the new Punch Brothers.  And then come to Appy Up with me in June to see them.  😉

A Simple Day and Some Fun Pictures

Today has been simple, which is something I cannot say about the rest of the days in this week.

So let’s keep it simple here, too, and I’ll just show you a picture that never fails to make me smile (and make my ovaries glow):

Mike and Baby Jax.  Both have come a long way since this:

Aren’t they both such cute little nuggets?  Happy Friday!

Deal Breakers are National News!!!…or at Least Fark.com News

Remember that time I told you I could tell the future?  I did it again.

Well, I read Fark.com daily–all of it–because “it’s not news, it’s Fark!”  (Now I bet you’re figuring out why I say “farking” all of the time.)

So Fark.com has people submit odd news stories they find throughout the day with snappier, funnier headlines than what actually happened.  There are some doozies.  They also hold open threads sometimes.  The one yesterday that sparked this blog post?

What kind of thing do you consider an immediate deal breaker when you’re on a date with someone?

Trendsetter?  You bet your ass I am.

So here are some Fark Deal Breakers, mixed in with a few more of my own (in Italics) and sans-gender (OMG):

  • Reading (and enjoying) Twilight, The Hunger Games, The DaVinci Code (that last one was for you Dzanko)
  • Eating like a pig
  • Slurping through a straw
  • Having sexual organs that are not representative of the body (i.e. a chick with a dick, a dude without one)
  • Wedding rings (How did I miss this?  Because wedding rings are sexy…)
  • Follows the WNBA
  • Rude to the wait staff
  • B.O.
  • Being so “green” that I can’t do anything without ridicule
  • Ordering for me
  • Immediate talk about medical ailments they have or that run in their family
  • Talks too much about an ex
  • Can’t hold a conversation
  • Poor hygiene

I’m telling you people, all you have to do is keep reading to stay ahead of the trend.  😉

Deal Breakers: The Final Round-Up

So, I have a list of deal breakers that don’t really deserve a whole post of their own, so here are the final remaining deal breakers:

  • Tighty Whities
  • Being a manwhore
  • Inability to trust (this could have been turned into a post–albeit a preachy one)
  • Thinking that your sister is the best woman to ever walk the planet
  • Drinking yourself silly on a regular basis
  • Spending money carelessly
  • Telling ME how to spend my money (until we’re married–then it’s OUR money)
  • Being a pothead

That’s what I’ve got for now.

Tomorrow, I will entertain you far more than I did today.  But seriously guys, what are your deal breakers?
