“Parenthood”: The Best Show on TV

That’s right.  I’m downright saying it, because there’s absolutely nothing any of you could say that could make me believe otherwise.

I love Parenthood.  So much.  I believe Dustin Rowles of said it best when he said that if he could live in a show, it would be Parenthood.  I love each and every family in a different way, and it’s no secret that I’m in love with Joel, played by Sam Jaeger of Perrysburg, Ohio.

But it’s such a good show!  I’m so excited about everything that has happened in the show and that is going to happen.  And here’s another amazing reason to love Parenthood.  Dustin Rowles posted this on today.

Mae Whitman’s boyfriend, Landon Pigg, took an LFO song from the ’90’s and had the cast of the show star in the video!  Seriously.  Watch it.  All of it.  It gets so funny.

RIGHT?  Gah I love this show.

1990’s Nostalgia: Hey Arnold!

Kid shows just aren’t what they used to be.  Everything is so damn educational now.  What happened to fun?  Sure, I agree that the TV can be used for educational purposes, but crimenetlies!  I’m just tired of all these people acting like TV was so bad.  We all turned out alright.  And the truth is that TV is meant for entertainment.  The beauty of being a kid is that you’re not forced to learn all day, and you’re not forced to work all day.  Sometimes, you just want to sit back and watch TV.

And let’s be honest–what adult doesn’t have some silly indulgence, be it a reality show or some other nonsense.  I love love LOVE the Real Housewives of New Jersey, but darnit, I know I’m not learning a thing from it.

So today, we rejoice in Hey Arnold!, and all it’s glorious characters.  From football-shaped heads, to unibrow girls in pink dresses, this is for you, Hey Arnold!

Below I have included an 11:00min clip (calm down!  it’s a damn cartoon-enjoy it) which culminates in that glorious episode in which Stoop Kid is afraid to leave his Stoop.  You will be chanting it in your head the rest of the day.

1990’s Nostalgia – Pete & Pete

Pete & Pete!  A show born before its time.  From 1993-1996, episodes of Pete and Pete appeared on Nickelodeon.  The monotone narration, the absurdity, everything.  It came out before this type of show could be appreciated, and disappeared before it could really gain a cult following.

For cripe’s sake, it would probably be banned from television (or at least children’s networks).  Little Pete had a tattoo on his forearm!  A woman named Petunia that would dance when he twisted his arm.  Mom had a plate in her head.  And then there was Artie, the strongest man…IN THE WORLD!  The odd relationship between Ellen and Big Pete, and who could forget tiny Michelle Trachtenberg as Nona, the girl with the extensive pet cemetery.

And who hasn’t had an enemy like Pit Stain?  Come on, I know you remember Pit Stain.
